Message from the President

Greetings AMDEX Team,

Summer is in full swing and we hope you are enjoying the season. The AMDEX picnic was a huge success and it was wonderful to meet the AMDEX extended family and friends.

As mentioned in the previous newsletter, AMDEX plays an important role in our industry, our communities, and in the national health and security of the people of the United States. We are proud to announce our expansion of that role with recent wins in providing IT Security Services to Health and Human Services, IV&V support to Health and Human Services, and Program and Administrative Support Services to Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Another way AMDEX is fulfilling that role is through our commitment to help protect the environment. With America shifting to a “green culture”, there has been a strong push for citizens to make a positive difference and we ask the AMDEX team to participate in this endeavor. To learn more about how you can help, visit the EPA.gov site, and view the “Go Green” newsletter at http://www.epa.gov/newsroom/gogreen/index.htm.

Summer is a busy time for AMDEX and we expect to continue in the growth we’ve achieved this year. I personally want to thank all of you for the quality work you provide and to wish you and your family and friends a safe and healthy summer.

We are so proud to have you on our team.

Sincerely,

Devinder Singh, President and CEO

Happy Birthday!!!

AMDEX STAFF RECEIVE FAA EXCELLENCE AWARD

At AMDEX, we recognize that our employees are the core reason for our success and our Customers agree! Recently, some of our employees supporting the FAA were recognized with awards honoring their efforts to help the AFS-40 Flight Standards Quality Assurance Division accomplish their mission to make U.S. air travel as safe as possible.

To emphasize his appreciation, outgoing AFS-40 Manager Richard M. Lea took the time to visit AMDEX Headquarters and deliver his thanks to AMDEX President and CEO Devinder Singh. Mr. Lea’s generous comments were punctuated with many examples where our staff pitched in to help above and beyond their normal duties. In short, it was one more confirmation of what we at AMDEX already know: Our employees are our most valuable asset !

We salute honorees Kelli Crawford (not shown), Kim Vo (left), and Dana Hackett (right) for a job well done!.

AMDEX SUMMER PICNIC

On June 29, 2008, AMDEX hosted its first company summer picnic at the Pavilions of Turkey Run in McLean VA. Nestled in a beautifully wooded national park, the park catered a grand picnic feast, and provided activities for all ages. Employees enjoyed visiting with one another, and meeting the family and friends of our co-workers.

Our thanks go out to everyone who attended the picnic, and to those who helped make this party a truly enjoyable event.

AAMDEX RESEARCH SCIENTISTS AT FT. DETRICK SUPPORT PTSD AND TBI RESEARCH

The following article is submitted by Silvija Salai, RN, MBA, CCRC and Kelly Dustin, RN, MS, CCRC, two of AMDEX’s research scientists assigned at Fort Detrick, on their research and study of victims with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI).

PTSD is an anxiety disorder that typically develops after a traumatic event. Every year, over 1.5 million US citizens sustain a TBI, and several thousand of these cases are primarily related to blast injuries as a result of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. About 1 in 5 soldiers who return from these wars report symptoms of PTSD and other major depression.

Integrally involved in this research endeavor, AMDEX Human Subjects Protection Scientists assigned to the Office of Research Protections (ORP), Human Research Protections Office (HRPO), provide support to assure regulatory compliance and the protection of this vulnerable population.

Much appreciation is extended to researchers and ORP HRPO staff under the AMDEX Corporation contract for their efforts to advance the science of care for victims of TBI and PTSD, and to the contribution of improved TBI/PTSD treatment and rehabilitation outcomes.

RECENT CONTRACT AWARDS

• A Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) to provide IT Security Services to Health and Human Services via the Program Support Center.

• A Task Order to provide Independent Validation and Verification (IV &V) support to Health and Human Services.

• A BPA with Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This BPA is to provide Program and Administrative Support Services to the Headquarters Office of Detention and Removal Operations (HQDRO).

E-TIMECARD UPDATE

We are pleased to report that we completed company-wide parallel testing of the AMDEX electronic timecard system on June 30th. On July 1st, E-Timecard became the official Time Accounting System for AMDEX, utilized by all of our staff.

On behalf of the entire AMDEX E-Timecard Implementation Team, I want to thank you all very much for your participation. The parallel run was a huge success, and with your comments and suggestions, we were able to identify areas that needed attention or improvement.

AMDEX participates in the DHS CBP Golf Tournament

Several of the AMDEX employees supporting the DHS CBP participated in the Annual Spring CBP Golf Tournament. AMDEX donated a golf putter as one of the prizes. AMDEX’s participation was appreciated and the tournament was a lot of fun and a big success.
