Data Analyst - Epidemiology, provide high level expertise in applicable public health disciplines to collect, abstract, code, analyze, or interpret scientific data contained within information systems and databases related to public health.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide programming and statistical support to the epidemiological and surveillance activities of the arthritis and epilepsy programs
  • Develop statistical models and complex algorithms
  • Produce variable and value labels for all variables in the dataset created by the designated software (using SAS and/or SPSS), and produce data codebooks
  • Conduct training in the use of the designated software, including the use of data entry and edit programs
  • Provide SAS, SPSS, Stata, and Epilnfo support for survey and surveillance data, which includes merging ASCII data files, creating supplementary SAS/SPSS datasets, linking data sets, developing complex algorithms for automatic data coding, and programming and running reports of frequencies and tabulations
  • Verify the completeness and accuracy of all data and notify project staff of problems identified with data
Basic Qualifications:
  • Strong programming skills (SAS, STATA, and SUDAAN) and experience in biostatistics
  • Strong understanding of multiple chronic diseases and how to compare the diseases across data sets
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; collaborative
  • Expert knowledge of BRFSS, NHIS, NHANES, and Medicare data sets
  • Understanding of population based health
