User Relations Specialist - Healthcare Systems
Provide ongoing technical support for customers using key Registry Plus tools (Abstract Plus, Web Plus, eMaRC Plus, Data File Mapper Plus, Prep and CRS/TLC Plus, Link Plus, Registry Plus online help, EDIT Writer, GenEDITS Plus, and Registry Plus Utility programs).

Responsibilities: 
  • Serve as primary point of contact for many of the Registry Plus applications
  • Develop tools and methods to streamline support for customers using the Registry Plus products
  • Perform software analysis, interface design, and testing
  • Perform application review and provide specifications to programmers, generating usability testing materials and collaborating with usability engineers and programmers to incorporate usability testing results
  • Develop specifications for national cancer reporting standards, contributing to design of new modules, and performing problem identification and resolution testing as needed
  • Generate software system documentation, user training materials, software manuals, and context-sensitive online help for the various Registry Plus applications
  • Provide subject matter expertise in population-based cancer registry operations in the areas of: registry operations, data flow, data collection, data editing, quality control, auditing for accuracy/completeness, applicable standards for coding and classification and registry software systems
  • Update the Registry Plus brochure and one-page information sheets for each application, and generate/maintain Registry Plus Benefits and Potential Costs document and overview presentation provided to new/potential user
  • Provide support to current and potential users of Registry Plus and EDITS software via e-mail, telephone, and remote access, including providing support for software interface customization, edits, edit sets, SAS programming, and SQL script generation as needed by users and for special projects
  • Provide training at NPCR-sponsored workshops and presentations at national conferences and other meetings as required, including leading preparation efforts for Registry Plus and EDITS training workshops to achieve high level participant satisfaction, generating agendas and evaluation forms, coordinating training materials from other instructors, generating training materials and presentations for specific training sessions, and provide software demonstrations as required
  • Create agenda, presentations, and user status maps for, and participate regularly in, monthly Registry Plus Users Group teleconferences, as well as independently generate and maintain website to distribute information and meeting materials
  • Perform continuous recruitment and tracking activities for registries converting to or implementing Registry Plus applications, including serving as initial point of contact for new users.
  • Maintain implementation progress notes, and generate Registry Plus updates circulated to CDC Cancer Surveillance Branch staff
  • Maintain a national cancer community presence and leadership role via regular participation in various North American Association of Central Cancer Registries (NAACCR) committee teleconferences, contributing towards decision-making regarding implementation and enforcement of national cancer reporting standards, and serving as faculty for NCRA and NAACCR Central Cancer Registries: Design, Management and Use course
  • Perform special assignments as requested by the customer in addition to ongoing software-related duties
  • On an ad-hoc basis, actively participate in Developers Meetings and contribute to the feature sets for enhancements of existing Registry Plus products and development of novel applications
  • Prepare both technical documentation for customer-based IT support staff and training materials for end users of Registry Plus products
Qualifications
  • 7-9 years of experience performing and leading tests of software to ensure proper operation and freedom from defects
  • 9+ years of experience serving on national committees and subcommittees, contributing towards decision-making regarding implementation and enforcement of national cancer reporting standards
  • Proven leadership capabilities and recognition as a national cancer community presence
  • 7-9 years of experience coordinating large, state, or national-level public health data-related projects, communicating and collaborating with key participants to achieve project goals
  • At least 5 years of experience providing subject matter expertise in performing application review and providing specifications for improvements to programmers 
  • Certification as a CTR, and over 5 years of experience with the Registry Plus suite of software
  • Previous experience providing subject matter expertise for cancer registry software development and implementation including requirements, testing, documentation, and training users
  • Previous experience providing technical support for software setup and use, including travel to user sites
  • Previous experience providing expertise in cancer registry operations, automated central cancer registry functions, and cancer data standards
  • Strong communication skills
