Dental Epidemiologist Analysis - Subject Matter Expert, provide Subject Matter expertise on dental and oral diseases through the collection, analysis and summarization of available data. 

Responsibilities: 
  • Provide a national and international focus for the prevention and control of oral diseases and conditions, and for the prevention and control of infectious diseases in dentistry.
  • Provide assistance to the CDC in their support of state and local governments, professional, educational, voluntary, and community-based organizations through consultation, training, promotion, education, surveillance, and other technical services.
  • Assist in evaluating dental, oral, and infectious disease prevention activities.
  • Collect, analyze, summarize, and distribute information on dental public health programs.
  • Conduct and evaluate operational research to develop improved methodology for oral disease prevention.
  • Develop and conduct surveillance of oral disease and chronic disease problems associated with oral health.
  • Maintain liaison with other Federal agencies, state and local health agencies, and national organizations and groups on oral health and chronic disease activities.
  • Collaborate with components of CDC in carrying out programs.

Requirements: 
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Biostatistics, and/or related field, Degree in dental surgery (D.D.S.) or dental medicine (D.M.D.) highly preferred.
  • 8-10 years experience with surveillance, investigation, and evaluation of communicable or chronic disease, injuries, or health conditions. Independently determining and utilizing appropriate statistical methods to evaluate and interpret data. 
  • Thorough knowledge of biostatical methodologies, procedures and testing.
  • Demonstrated broad knowledge of understanding of scientific principles, theories and technologies applicable to biological sciences, in general, and Perinatology in particular
  • Knowledge of computer software design and multiple programming languages
  • Experience with epidemiological investigation including study design, analysis and reporting of biomonitoring, occupational or environmental exposure investigations for use in epidemiological surveillance or research.
  • Experience in the use of data management software (Excel and Access), SAS statistical software, PowerPoint presentation software, Microsoft Word, ArcGIS and graphical presentation software.
