Mechanical Data Center Engineer, Multiple positions available. Need Day, Mid and Night Shifts. Work with our team responsible for a large 24x7 datacenter critical to our government's security needs.

Summary:  This position requires a technical background focused on HVAC systems, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), Power Distribution Unit (PDU), transformers and generators.  Provides support to the CBP National Data Computer Operations Center (NDCOC) by performing the following duties:

Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for facility planning, ensuring that the facility complies with all applicable building codes; ensuring that the OEM-specified environment is maintained; and ensuring compliance with the engineering limitations of structures within the facility. The specialist shall direct and monitor all maintenance activities for the contract, including maintenance of computer systems environmental, fire suppression, and backup power systems and performing hardware performance and reliability analysis, when required.


To perform this job successfully, individual must have solid technical background with a focus on HVAC systems, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), Power Distribution Unit (PDU), transformers and generators; understanding of electrical and mechanical calculations required to maintain a data center environment; ability to read, analyze and interpret Technical Procedures, Blue Prints/Diagrams, Building Codes, and OSHA Codes; and solid understanding of NEC Code, and data processing environments.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Required to walk the length of the building several times a day, climb ladders of 30+ feet, lift, carry and repair equipment as needed which may require bending.

A Bachelors Degree from an accredited university with five years of directly related experience. Experience working in a facilities mission critical environment (Ex., Data Centers, Hospitals, and Military or Government Facilities) is highly preferred. Equivalents: H.S. Diploma with nine years of specialized experience in related field, or Associates Degree with seven of experience and holds an active Virginia State electrician license.

Must be qualified to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
